About the film: PERSONEN is an experimental essay drama unfolding in real time over 95 minutes in the lives of a young German couple, Sophia and Jonathan, as they sit down to watch a film together. That film is Ingmar Bergman’s “Persona,” the story of a nurse who is psychologically destroyed over the course of a strange relationship with one of her patients, a woman who has refused to speak or act in an effort to combat the pointlessness of life.
As the nurse’s so-called “easy life” is dissected and annihilated, Sophia, watching from her living room, undergoes the same crisis, questioning the nature of time, dreams, memory, the world around her, and her failed relationship with Jonathan.
